Items made by a HomeBody!!!

Hello Tadpoles,
I have not been completing manicures lately. I have been dealing with some stress in my life. I have come to realize that my Husband, or DH (dedicated Husband), has spoiled me so bad. That is a good and bad thing. Daniel has been a rock from the beginning of all of my medical issues. I have limited use of my left arm. I have developed extreme anxiety, sleeplessness, and an inability to be in a public. When I am in public, I have a hard time with not trusting people, ie. I get really scared that they are going to hit my arm again.
So I have become a homebody or I have to have someone with me at all times to "protect " me and my arm. Since April 2012, I have become a Nail Polish addict. No really, I just have found out that painting my nails and other things help relax me and I am happier. I love to share all my manicures and things that I make. I have become an Pinterest fan. I scroll through all the other beautiful things that other people have and share.
Here are the latest things that I have completed and sent to members of nail polish groups.

This a bracelet that I made for a friend in a nail Polish group.

This a necklace that I made for clear baubles that I used nail polish and stamps.

These are bobby pins that I painted with different kinds of nail polish.

This is one of  my own nail polishes what I made. It is a blue glitter.

Another nail polish that I made. It is a purple glitter.

This are the samples of my first own nail polishes.

I wanted to share what I do to help me relax. I have been diagnosed with a condition that is called " Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome", Anxiety, and Sleeplessness. So I am trying to share my life and things that I use to help me deal with life.
If you have any questions or comments, Please just ask or comment. Have a great day.

Love,
Chrisie

Black Light and Glow in the Dark Polish

Hello Tadpoles,
I am so sorry that I have not posted anything for some time. Ok, so I have been busy doing several things. I had been nervous about my Husband starting a new job, Truck Driving. I bite and damaged my nails. So I did not stamp them. But this week, I decided that I wanted to try to figure out how to take pictures of  "Glow in the Dark" nail polish.
I had never used Glow in the Dark (GITD) so I contacted by awesome friend, Sandy over at  Beaching Nails. Sandy and I have become friends through several nail stamping groups on Facebook. Sandy is a person that does so of the most beautiful manicures that I have ever seen. She was able to help me and my husband figure out to take proper pictures.
Here is what we finally were able to capture. Unfortunately,It took us about 10 attempts.

We went to Walmart and purchased a GE Black Light 60. We read in an article on ehow. This article was about how to photograph objects the glow in the dark. Of course, the wise Sandy was able to provide me with this link.
I used two top coats of China Glaze-Ghoulish Glaze-1024. I then stamped four different fingers. Then topping it with another coat of Ghoulish Glaze. I had just gotten home from Rite Aid where I bought several other GITD polishes. I applied one coat of Pumpkin Glow in the Dark Orange Polish.
After reading and playing around, we figured out how to take the pictures. Here are the steps that we used:
  1. Set the dial to "A" (Aperture priority auto)
  2. Set the Flash Compensation to -3.0.
  3. Set the Exposure Compensation to 5.0.
  4. Place your Tripod as close as possible. Focus the picture.
  5. Leave the Black Light on till picture is taken.
  6. Move the AF box to the design on the nails to focus on.
  7. For a solid black background, turn off the light.
  8. Click the picture shoot button.
  9. Turn off the Black Light.
  10. Wait till the camera photograph light comes on so that you know that the picture was taken.
I hope that you are able to capture your Glow-In-The Dark manicure. Patience is the number one thing that you will need.
Have a great day.  Let me know how your pictures turn out.

Love,
Chrisie

Breast Cancer and Pregnancy Loss/Infant Loss Awareness Manicures

Hello Tadpoles,
I have been busy with my new monthly awareness manicures. I am a couple days behind with posting them. I am so excited to be posting these awareness manicures.
The Breast Cancer Awareness manicure is dedicated to both of my Grandmother's and my brothers wife's grandmother. I am also dedicating to all those women in the world that are fighting with cancer or those that have fought it and beat it. Along, with women that fought a good fight and could not beat it.

My Pregnancy Loss and Infant Loss Awareness Manicure is very close to me. In November 2011, I found out that I was pregnant with my first child. Unfortunately, on November 27th, I experienced a miscarriage. It had just hit me and my husband that we were going to be parents. But, I was taking some very rough/addictive medications for my shoulder pain. I was determined that after the miscarriage to continue coming off of the medications. So for me, the miscarriage was a reality check that I was taking some bad medications. We are eager to get pregnant in the future. I dedicate this manicure for any woman or couple that has lost a pregnancy or even worse an Infant.

I wanted to let everyone know that I used painters tape and a hole punch to create the baby feet. I was so excited that these worked so well.
I hope that you enjoy these manicures. Let me know what you think. Can you tell me if I need to do anything to make my posts better.

Love,
Chrisie

World Animal Day Manicure

Hello Tadpoles,
I am trying to catch up with my manicure pictures and posts. I completed another Awareness manicure for October 4th.
World Animal Day started in Florence, Italy in 1931 at a convention of ecologists. On this day, animal life in all its forms is celebrated, and special events are planned in locations all over the globe. The 4th of October was originally chosen for World Animal Day because it is the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environmentToday, World Animal Day is observed by animal-lovers of all beliefs, nationalities and backgrounds.
I love animals. I live on 40 acres in the country. People are always dropping dogs off on our land. I guess that they see that we have 2 dogs (Red and Albert) that run freely on the land. My parents have 2 dogs that live with them inside the house (Hunter and Sasha). We have 2 other dogs (Fuzzy and Duke) that live in my parents backyard in a fence so that they are protected from other dogs. They are have injuries to their back legs and can not protect themselves. My husband and I have 1 dog/son that lives with us. Here is his name, hold on....Flash Gordon Martin-Duncan. He has some other names that we call him that he answers to. But these are his formal ones. We also have 2 cats/son/daughter (Socks and Shadow). I had 2 other cats that have passed away. We also had two other dogs that were members of our family that had a big impact on our family (PeeWee and Bear). Ok, I know dang.

Red  aka "RED DOG"
Albert aka "FAT ALBERT"
Sasha aka "OLD GIRL"
Hunter aka "FAT BOY"...Don't laugh. I am BIG BONED....

Fuzzy aka "MOMMA". mother to Albert and Duke.

Duke aka "Dukester"

Flash Gordan Martin-Duncan

Ok, as you can see I am a HUGE animal lover. I tell people all the time, when I die, I want to come back as one of my family's dogs.
To show my support, I completed a World Animal Day manicure. It is late, but better late than never.

What do you think? I love the color combinations that I used. I think that I have used it another time before. I adore the images from the Cheeky plates.

Love,
Chrisie

Awareness Manicures and Mental Health Awareness Month

Dearest Tadpoles,
I have decided that for the month of October that I am going to do some special manicures. I really don't like Halloween so much. I know I am weird.
I located all the special days and awareness by using the famous Wikipedia page.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October ). I printed off a calendar and labeled the days that I wanted to complete the manicures. I decided that since there are a lot of manicures to complete that I would do one on each hand. So my left might be better than my right, since I am right hand dominant. LOL
Mental Illness Awareness Month, is something that is near and dear to my heart. I will not gone into the boring details of my injury again. I developed some craziness going from a totally active person to a totally non-active person. I can't lift anything heavy, mow grass (which I loved doing), dressing myself sometimes to dealing with people in situations because I am scared that I might get hit in arm. So that is some of my issues.
I am also showing my support for all individuals that are battling with Mental Health Issues.

I choose randomness because I feel that I can't think and get just one thought to complete in my head. I love the blue nail polish to show my support and the blue is because my mental health issues make me blue. The essie polish stamped so well.
I hope that you stop and support anyone that has any form of Mental Health Issues or Illness. I have started to post all my pics in a collage format. Tell me what you think about them. Should I stop and show individual pictures of my manicures?

Love,
Chrisie

Toxic Manicure: Dahlia's are toxic for Dogs and Cats

Hello Tapoles,
In Adventures in Stamping today, the theme is "Toxic or Poisonous". I decided to do a manicure for a plant or flower that was toxic for pets. I picked Dahlia's as my flower. It is toxic to dogs and cats. It causes mild gastrointestinal and mild dermatitis. The below pictures are several different types of Dahlia's.

Dahlia's
We   I decided that my manicure base polish was going to be a yellow. I picked Sally Hansen Insta Dri-Chartreuse Chase. I love the hints of green in the yellow polish.

I used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Extreme Wear-150-Sunkissed, Wet-n-Wild Shine-Red Red 414A, and Wet-n-Wild-Ebony Hates Chris C229c as my stamping polishes. I used several different stamping plates to complete this manicure. They are Mash 31(upset and frown faces), 36 (dog paws), 43 (upset bubbles) and BM 04 (cats). I used a stamping plate that was given to me by Candace Woods. I used it for the Dahlia's on my middle finger. I really don't know the name of the stamping plate all that it has on it is an "E".
So if any of your pets ingest this flower, contact your local veterinarian or ASPCA Animal Poison Control at 1-888-426-4435.

World Cerebral Palsy Day September 04, 2012

Tadpoles,
Today I decided after reading a post from a friend, Mrs. Judy Gilbert that I was going to complete a special manicure. Mrs. Judy has twin grandsons, Aidan and Cian. The twins were born June 24, 2009 and were premature. Aidan developed cerebral palsy due to scarring from a brain bleed along with his prematurity.

Mrs. Judy's grandbabies are so precious. I decided that since tomorrow is World Celebral Palsy Day
(09/04/2012) that my manicure would be dedicated to Aidan.

This is Aiden with his contagious smile and him with his Grandmother Judy.

I used several different stamping plates to complete this manicure. Starting on my left hand: :middle finger

I used the base polish of Sinful Colors, 101, Snow Me White and the stamping polish is Sinful Colors, 960, Envy.  I made the water decals of Aidan and Mrs. Judy on my thumbs along with his name. I copied the World Cerebral Palsy Day imagine from the website.

Nail Wheels with Help

Hello Tadpoles,
I was going though Pinterest again and found another awesome idea. I wish that I thought of this. Once again, I tweaked it some to help me out.
Kayla at Nails of Kayla Shevonne came up with drilling holes in here nail wheels so that she could use a metal rings to attach them.

I attempted to connect my nail wheels with the same metal rings. After sitting in the Nail room, my husband and I came up with using Floral Wire. I found several different colors of the Floral Wire the Dollar Tree.

I decided to use the red Floral wire first. I put together all of my different polishes. I used wire cutters to manipulate the wire so that I could continue to use the wire when I add more polish wheels. Once they all were connected with the floral wire, I hung them on the side of my bookshelves. I attached some Command hooks and printed off the name of each brand of Nail Polish.

I hope that you enjoy these ideas. I am learning more ideas that I will share with everyone. Let me know what you think.
   Love, Chrisie
